Road Closures Affect Wednesday Morning Commute

As investigators continue examining the scene, the Redding Police Department announced several hard road closures in the area.

The following intersections were announced as closed:

Police stated that the closures were expected to remain in place throughout the Wednesday morning commute. Motorists traveling through central and south Redding should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes.

Possible Alternate Routes

For drivers who normally use Cypress Avenue to cross the Sacramento River, Highway 44 may provide another crossing, depending on their destination.

Drivers traveling north or south may want to consider Churn Creek Road or other major streets farther away from the investigation area.

Motorists traveling near Parkview Avenue, Beverly Drive, Henderson Road or Hartnell Avenue should be prepared for restrictions and follow directions from officers or posted traffic signs.

These are possible alternate routes, not official detours announced by the Redding Police Department. Motorists should check current road conditions before leaving.

What Drivers Should Know

The Redding Police Department did not provide a specific time for reopening the affected intersections in its Wednesday morning announcement.

Drivers are encouraged to allow additional travel time, avoid the investigation area and use live traffic navigation services to identify available routes.

Closure information reflects the police announcement issued Wednesday morning and may change as the investigation progresses.
