Plumas County Sheriff Reports 1,117 Patrol Incidents and 65 Jail Bookings in September

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office reported 1,117 patrol incidents and 65 jail bookings during September 2026, offering a snapshot of law enforcement activity in this Northern California county.

The monthly statistics, shared by the agency on October 25th, cover September 1st through September 30th, 2026.

Patrol and dispatch activity

The Sheriff’s Office reported 524 calls to 911 and 2,394 nonemergency calls during the month. Combined, those two categories totaled 2,918 calls, or about 97 per day.

The patrol report also lists 113 reports, 16 misdemeanor arrests and 18 felony arrests. The two arrest categories add up to 34.

Calls, patrol incidents and reports are listed as separate measures in the update. The announcement does not explain how those categories overlap, so they should not be added together as a total number of separate emergencies or crimes.

Jail activity

The county jail recorded 65 bookings during September and an average daily population of 30. Its highest daily population was 33, while its lowest was 28.

Bookings reflect admissions during the month, while the daily population figures describe how many people were in custody. The update does not identify how many unique individuals accounted for the bookings.

A countywide responsibility

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office serves communities throughout the county. Its jurisdiction includes the City of Portola as well as state and federal property within Plumas County. Along with law enforcement duties, the office operates the county jail, coordinates search and rescue and carries out coroner responsibilities.

The September graphic does not include a community by community breakdown or comparable figures from the same month last year. These totals alone do not establish whether crime is increasing or decreasing.
