Olivehurst man receives 15 years to life in Benito Valle murder case

A 25 year old Olivehurst man has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for the murder of Benito Valle following a shooting at a celebration of life earlier this year.
Yuba County Judge Debra L. Givens imposed the sentence on Namee Najarro, who entered a no contest plea to second degree murder on September 22nd, according to the case announcement.
The shooting happened on the evening of March 20th, 2026, on Sixth Avenue in Olivehurst. Yuba County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a 911 call found people gathered for a celebration of life. Valle was transported by ambulance to Adventist Health Rideout, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The announcement describes witness accounts of a confrontation earlier that evening. According to those accounts, Valle challenged Adrian Vega over his treatment of a woman. Vega left the gathering and later returned with his brother, Jesus Vega Jr., and Najarro. The accounts described all three as carrying firearms.
Investigators alleged that another fight followed and that Najarro and Adrian Vega both shot Valle.
United States Border Patrol agents arrested Najarro the following day as he attempted to flee to Mexico, according to the announcement.
Jesus Vega Jr. has entered a no contest plea to felony assault with a firearm for his role in the fight and is awaiting sentencing.
Adrian Vega has pleaded not guilty, with his trial scheduled for April 2027. The allegations against him remain pending, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
