A large pile of cut vegetation burning in a vacant field kept Red Bluff firefighters committed to the scene Thursday evening, October 29th, 2026, near Trainor and Schwab streets.

The Red Bluff City Fire Department said the fire was contained to the vegetation pile. Because of the pile's size, the department expected crews to remain at the scene for an extended period.

In a follow up update, the department said personnel continued to staff and manage the incident while allowing the material to burn more completely before final extinguishment.

Firefighters remained on scene, and the department said the incident would be continuously evaluated until it was fully mitigated.

The updates did not identify what started the fire or provide a time for final extinguishment. The initial statement that the fire was contained to the pile did not mean it was completely out. The later update confirmed that personnel were still managing the incident at the time of that statement.

This account reflects the fire department's two updates about the October 29th incident and does not establish its current status.
