A home and a vehicle were struck by gunfire in Eureka early Saturday morning, prompting a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office investigation and a request for help from anyone with surveillance footage.

Multiple 911 calls came into the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center at approximately 5:50 a.m. on October 31st, 2026, reporting shots in the 500 block of Higgins Street.

Deputies responding to the neighborhood found that gunfire had hit a residence and a vehicle. No injuries were reported.

One caller told dispatchers that a white sedan with a red top was seen traveling east on Higgins Street shortly after the shots. Investigators are seeking information about that vehicle as they work to identify those responsible. The announcement did not establish whether anyone in the sedan fired the shots.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the Eureka shooting, including surveillance video or details about the sedan seen leaving the area, to contact investigators at 707-445-7251.

The department’s initial announcement did not identify a suspect or describe a possible motive. It also did not specify how many shots were fired.

The investigation remains active, and the Sheriff’s Office said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
