Foothill High School swimming gave Palo Cedro and Shasta County plenty to celebrate at the NSCIF Masters Championship, closing the season with team records, standout section performances and strong overall finishes.
The Cougars finished third overall in the boys competition and fifth overall in the girls competition. Nine girls and nine boys qualified, and 11 individual Foothill swimmers earned a place in the A Finals.
The championship brought together the top 16 qualifying times from Division 1 and Division 2 schools, with 19 teams represented. Foothill’s official season schedule listed the Masters meet at Shasta College on Saturday, October 31st, 2026.
A record setting finish
Connor Haslerud recorded team records in the 100 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 50 backstroke. His 50 backstroke was also listed as an NSCIF record, while his 100 backstroke performance earned a place among the section’s top 10 historical marks.
Joey Isola added team records in the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly. His 50 butterfly was also listed as an NSCIF record.
The men’s 200 and 400 freestyle relays set team records with Joey Isola, Carson Haslerud, Ryan Haslerud and Connor Haslerud. The 200 freestyle relay also earned a place among the top five NSCIF historical marks.
Those top 10 and top five achievements recognize a place among the section’s best historical performances and are distinct from setting the fastest section record.
Congratulations, Cougars!
From the swimmers who qualified for the championship to those who reached the A Finals and helped rewrite the record book, Foothill finished with plenty to be proud of.
Congratulations to all 18 qualifying swimmers, the record setters and the coaches who helped guide the team through the season. I’m glad to celebrate these local student athletes and the work they put in to represent their school and the North State.
What a way to finish, Cougars!
