Eureka Traffic Stop Leads to Suspected Fentanyl and Firearms Seizure, Sheriff Says

Humboldt County deputies say an October 27th traffic stop in Eureka led to an arrest and a probation search that uncovered additional suspected narcotics and firearms.

Evidence displayed by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, including two handguns, ammunition, an air powered arrow gun and suspected narcotics.

A traffic stop in Eureka led to a probation search and the seizure of suspected narcotics and firearms, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Thomas Grzymski Sr., 48, after stopping his vehicle at approximately 3:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27th, 2026, in the 3500 block of Broadway. The Sheriff’s Office said deputies observed a traffic violation and determined that Grzymski was on felony probation with a general search and seizure clause.

Members of the agency’s Problem Oriented Policing Team, known as the POP Team, arrived to assist. During a search of Grzymski and his vehicle, deputies reported finding suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

Grzymski was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked on narcotics related charges, according to the agency.

Investigation led to a residence on Allard Avenue

Following the arrest, POP Team deputies worked with the Humboldt County Probation Department to identify Grzymski’s primary residence in the 3500 block of Allard Avenue in Eureka.

Deputies then conducted a probation search at the home, where the Sheriff’s Office said they seized additional suspected narcotics and firearms.

The agency reported that additional charges were added to Grzymski’s booking under California Health and Safety Code section 11395(b)(1), along with Penal Code sections 29800(a)(1) and 30305(a)(1).

The October 28th release did not provide a complete list of the initial narcotics charges or report a court outcome. The substances were described as suspected narcotics. The allegations have not been proven in court, and Grzymski is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Sheriff’s Office encourages confidential tips

The Sheriff’s Office said its POP Team focuses on recurring criminal activity and neighborhood safety concerns, working with other agencies on problems that require sustained attention.

Officials also encouraged residents to report suspicious activity, saying community information can help deputies identify crime trends and develop investigative leads.
