A new holiday event is coming to downtown Corning this November, combining Christmas creativity with a day focused on supporting local businesses.

Christmas Chalk the Block will take place Saturday, November 28th, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the sidewalk along Solano Street between 3rd and 4th Streets. The event is being held during Small Business Saturday and is open to all ages.

The public art activity gives residents a chance to claim a sidewalk space and create their own chalk artwork while spending time in downtown Corning. There is no admission charge to participate, but those who want a designated space are encouraged to register in advance through the Corning Chamber of Commerce.

Participants can bring their own sidewalk chalk. The Chamber will also have chalk available at its office while supplies last.

There are a few restrictions on materials. Spray chalk, oil pastels, permanent markers and paint are not allowed for the event.

The timing puts Christmas Chalk the Block alongside Small Business Saturday, giving families another reason to spend time downtown while visiting Corning shops and businesses during the holiday shopping season.

Christmas Chalk the Block is scheduled for Saturday, November 28th, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event area will be on Solano Street from 3rd to 4th Streets, near Corning City Hall and the Corning Chamber of Commerce office at 1110 Solano Street.

For questions, the Corning Chamber of Commerce can be reached at 530-824-5550.
